‘Atang’ means offering in Ilokano (a language from northern Philippines)

It is an ancient Filipino tradition where we offer gifts to the spirits of departed relatives or deities. The offering could be comprise of food to appease the hungry spirits, or candles and flowers to guide their journey. It is a way of honoring our ancestors and acknowledging the power of the natural world.

Atang is observable today, Christianized into All Saints Day where families would leave food and light candles at a family altar or at the cemeteries. Farmers would offer gifts right before the planting season and after the harvest to show gratitude to the spirits of the land. It is a tradition shared with other indigenous cultures since time immemorial.

It is a tradition that I continue today and I would l like to share with you. In this bag you will find a candle to light the way for your ancestors, flowers to beautify their path to you, and seeds to represent those who will come after us.

I hope you find a place for this in your home and use it when you find the need for it.
